Alyx has eleven years of experience working as a choreographer and filmmaker, spanning live performance, installation, video-dance, music video, documentary and experimental feature filmmaking. Alyx also works as a choreographer for international television commercials. Along side her work in industry she has taught papers in dance, digital video, and theatre studies across several tertiary institutions in New Zealand and China. Alyx holds a Masters of Theatre Arts (Directing) with Distinction from Victoria University and Toi Whakaari and a Bachelor of Performing Arts (Contemporary Dance) from Unitec. Her research investigates human perception in relation to place, culture and political context. Alyx’s films have been screened at international and national film festivals. Her work is principally funded by Creative New Zealand, The New Zealand Film Commission, and Asia NZ. She is currently in post-production for a feature film and a documentary feature, both projects are being produced between China and NZ. |
