Alyx is engaged in a range of works and collaborations. AUGUST Alyx will be in Brasilia and Sao Paulo developing the Brazil|NZ collaboration. She will present her work within a talk hosted by the Audio Visual Department of the University of Brasilia in partnership with the Brazilian experimental cinema group Quase Cinema at the Museum of the Republic. 22, 29 JULY FILM SCREENING of short film Appetite as part of the New Zealand International Film Festival, at the City Gallery Cinema in Wellington. Screening with Quarters films. JUNE - JULY In Beijing Alyx continues her two month Theatre in Motion and Asia:NZ residency, developing feature length experimental documentary The Red House till July 5. MAY - JUNE Alyx paused her residency to return to NZ to choreograph an Instant Kiwi TVC directed by Hamish Rothwell of Good Oil in Auckland. While in NZ she also had a script/structure development workshop for The Red House with script writer and director Catherine Bisley, and a Waiheke pick-up shoot. MARCH - APRIL - MAY At the end of March Alyx spent three days as a guest artist with MFA students at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She then did the first half of her residency in Beijing with Theatre in Motion. FEBRUARY Alyx seeded a new project, a collaboration between three Brasilian and three NZ artists: theatre director and producer Ligia Verdi, dancer and body therapist Beto Teixeira, theater and installation artist John Downie and performance designer Rowan Pierce. In August they will continue this development with a workshop in Brasilia, Brazil. This process is supported with a creative and professional development grant from Creative New Zealand. JANUARY Returning to NZ mid January after nine weeks in Brussels, Belgium Alyx choreographed an Icebreaker TVC, directed by Mr Hide and produced by Claire Kelly for The Sweet Shop. NOVEMBER 2009 Alyx was in Cairo, Egypt assisting Melanie Bridge of The Sweet Shop make Colours of Egypt TVC for the Egyptian Tourism Board. OCTOBER Alyx choreographed a musical TVC directed by Kezia Barnett in Sydney. She then flew to Beijing where she conducted research for the China part of The Red House. Visiting NY between June and July Alyx choreographed a MTS musical TVC directed by Kezia Barnett. She then returned to Wellington to do post production for the Waiheke section of The Red House and complete her MTA degree. This masters degree concluded with the completion her short film Appetite. |
