The Sea Inside Her is a short film. It’s also a conversation between artists, an exhibition made up of paintings, poetry and moving-image work.
A project based on year long research by Greenpeace Aotearoa that discovered that although many of us have concerns about what’s happening in the natural world there’s a big number of New Zealanders who feel shy to speak about it or let it inform their choices. One night an old seaman dreams the ocean into his bed. His sea green sheets become the polluted waters of his worst nightmare. His own mortality is at risk as his household objects begin to suffocate him. The film is inspired by the life, and performed by the filmmaker’s father.
